THEFREEDICTIONARY.COM LAUNCHES STOCK MARKET TRACKING TOOLS BY QUOTEMEDIA
Farlex's new homepage boasts an additional customizable feature
HUNTINGDON VALLEY, Pa., March 13, 2006-Farlex, Inc., publisher of the world's most comprehensive online database of reference information, has announced the launch of its new stock market tracking tools, customizable additions to Farlex's flagship website, TheFreeDictionary.com. Farlex chose QuoteMedia, Inc. (OTCBB: QMCI), a leading provider of market data services and financial applications, to provide the market data capabilities, and signed a distribution deal with NASDAQ, with the goal of delivering up-to-date financial information to TheFreeDictionary.com's users. The resulting financial application allows users to gather information about individual stocks and mutual funds, monitor portfolios, and track market trends. The tools are natural additions to TheFreeDictionary.com's information-rich homepage, and they dovetail with the site's financial dictionary of over 8,000 fiscal terms. Like other customizable features on the homepage, these tools are contained in a moveable, collapsible box with a variety of preference options. The tools offer a stock symbol lookup, and are capable of charting the performance of different indices, including foreign markets. Nick Simonov, co-founder and president of Farlex, says he is excited to add this feature to TheFreeDictionary's homepage. "Financial information has been the most frequently requested feature since we launched the new homepage," Simonov said. "We received a lot of positive feedback about our customizable weather feature, and users were actively requesting something similar for navigating the financial realm."
Dave Shworan, QuoteMedia Ltd.'s CEO, says that he too is pleased with the relationship. "With more than 500,000 daily visitors, TheFreeDictionary.com is a major online destination," Shworan said. "We are very happy to have been chosen to provide financial and market data to this broad audience."
