HUNTINGDON VALLEY, PA, March 8, 2010 – TheFreeDictionary Language Forums, operated by Farlex, Inc., publisher of the world's most comprehensive database of online reference material, celebrated its first birthday on March 6, 2010.
TheFreeDictionary Language Forums was designed to be a place where TheFreeDictionary’s users could discuss topics relating to vocabulary, grammar, translations, culture, science, computing, finance, and more. Organized by language and subdivided into a number of related categories, the forums allow users from around the world and different language backgrounds to easily interact with one another.
"Before launching the forums, we knew that our users had things they wanted to say, but they had no way to make their voices heard," Nick Simonov, co-founder and president of Farlex, Inc., said. "Now that the platform exists, it is amazing to see the way it has fostered not only intellectual discussion and debate but also friendships that span geographic, political, and religious boundaries."
"The response has just been overwhelming," added Steve Boymel, co-founder and executive vice president of Farlex, Inc. "We now have more than 8,500 registered users who are responsible for over 68,000 posts."
When the forums were first constructed, the development team included a section dedicated entirely to user suggestions for the site, and this has proved invaluable. Over the past year, a number of changes and additions were made to the forums. Many of these came directly from user suggestions, including ideas for new forum topic sections and the addition of certain profile customization tools. As the forums continue to evolve and grow, user input will remain an important part of the process and will help the Farlex team tailor the site to meet its users’ needs.
